Environmental Site Assessments

An Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) is undertaken for a variety of purposes and can range from a simple desktop review or walk through site inspection, to detailed technical assessments of the soil and groundwater conditions at a site.  Simple ESAs can also be known as “Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments” or “Preliminary Site Investigations”.  More detailed ESAs can also be known as “Phase 2 Environmental Site Assessments” or “Detailed Site Investigations”.

Prensa’s experienced team of consultants can tailor the scope of an environmental site assessment to best meet client needs and objectives.

The types of activities that may be undertaken as part of an Environmental Site Assessment include:

  • Site history review
  • Site inspection to identify potential sources of contamination
  • Soil sampling using a variety of sampling methods such as test pitting, or establishment of boreholes using drill rigs or hand sampling equipment
  • Groundwater assessment through the installation and sampling of groundwater monitoring wells
  • Analysis of the data obtained during the assessment and compilation of an appropriate environmental site assessment report.
