Professional History:  

Mike has over 12 years of consulting and management experience in the UK in asbestos management and other property related risk assessments.  In his most recent role he was the Managing Director for an asbestos management consultancy, where for over 8 years he supervised all aspects of the business.  During this time he was involved with many large projects including a multi-million pound social housing Decent Homes projects involving survey programs, air monitoring and asbestos removal project management.

His consulting experience in asbestos and other hazardous materials has included:

  • Asbestos surveying of numerous commercial, industrial and residential facilities for asbestos containing materials (ACM)
  • All aspects of asbestos abatement project management including preparation of technical specifications, overseeing asbestos removal work, conducting asbestos fibre air monitoring and clearance inspections, and
  • Writing procedures, auditing, reviewing and maintaining UKAS accredited quality systems to ISO 17020,  ISO 17025, CHAS accreditation and construction line accreditation.

Mike’s clients have included government and local authorities, large property management groups, hospital and healthcare trusts, construction and demolition companies, schools and many other industries.

Other occupational health and safety or occupational hygiene consulting projects Mike has directly managed or has undertaken include:

  • Fire risk assessments for asset management companies
  • Lead paint and anthrax testing for National Rail in the UK
  • Noise exposure and dust monitoring for large scale demolition projects and the National Rail tunnel track renewal programs
  • Water hygiene and quality testing of cooling towers for various hotel chains
  • Disability assessments and occupational risk assessments for Sainsbury supermarkets
  • Carbon monoxide testing and stock condition reporting for local authority housing stock
