Traffic Risk Management

The use of vehicles including forklifts at workplaces is a key management strategy for reducing the risks associated with manual handling.  However, the coexistence of vehicles and pedestrians in the same environment can introduce additional hazards which could result in serious injury and potential fatalities.  Where traffic hazards exist in a workplace it is expected that a formal traffic management plan is developed which identifies the specific hazards and, using the hierarchy of controls, specifies how the risks will be eliminated or  reduced so far as is practical.

Traffic management plans cover a range of issues including design of the workplace, bollards, barriers and traffic segregation, visibility, speed limits, warning signs and devices, vehicle design, licencing, training and monitoring.  Our experienced OH&S consultants can assist with reviewing existing traffic management plans or developing suitable plans for your workplace.
